Misappropriation

Misappropriation is  my most sincere salute to the 1950’s in the most modern way possible.. The 1950’s was such a dynamic and intriguing time period. Housewives were getting comfortable, husbands beginning to cheat, America was booming with the lush life, Sinatra made it big and everything seemed picture perfect. But behind the scenes, it’s often not—and things are mis-forgotten. This photographic series intends to highlight the gender roles in the romance of the classics —housewives, husbands and affairs.

Just like Holly Golightly in  Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961).

The vibrant color represents the golden age of cinema during the 1950’s as they implemented technicolor into films, as well as objects from the past that are reminiscent of what once was and no longer is. The story leaves a bit of mystery between a lonely housewife and awful husband who are centred in a tense relationship, her affairs with a younger man who waits for her, and the writer next door who hears their arguments and begins to write her story — and in the end, she's caught..
